This is my first post!  I've been a member of this site for about a year.  I finally got a camera and think it's time to contribute.  I met up with my friend Ed Friday morning and headed out about 7 am.   This can be a difficult area but we arrived to extremely calm seas.  I got six lingcod but only one was legal.  The first five were undersized (22 to 23 3/4 inches) so I thought I was going to have a great day with nothing to show for it until the last one.  I also picked up a nice cabezon and a couple of keeper rockies.  Released many other fish during the day.  We got back to land about one o'clock with an uneventful landing.  Sorry the pics aren't better, I should have taken individual shots of the fish, but I'm learning.  Hope I can continue to contribute in the future provided I have something to share.

Cypress Point is in Pebble Beach.  The water is very clear, we could see down over 30 feet, but the waves can be nasty.  There is no protection there.  We were fortunate to get a calm day.  The rest of the weekend should be really nice there.

Nice job Hermit.

The calm sea came out of nowhere.
As for the pics, thanks for sharing.
Remember 1115K is a bit big, try bringing it below 300K.

Sorry about the big files, I'm still learning, and I'm computer stupid.  I think I just learned how to downsize them.

That is near where I ended up right around sunset last night.  Beautiful clear water, warm and access to areas that are usually awash.  Great fishing.  It is rare when we can get there and not get blown out.  Nice job on the lings.  My only one was under too.  Welcome to the Mandness.

Sorry about the big files

No need to be sorry.  Almost everyone here does it.
I'm just trying to help Bill and his server.

Great first post and nice job on the pics. Check the articles on Adding pics to your post - http://www.norcalkayakanglers.com/index.php?page=26 If you use the second method it will size them for you automatically.

Thanks for watching my back Potto!  :smt002

Hey Hermit,

Congrats on a great day of fishing and thank you for posting those great photos. Beautiful area we live in. I believe the area you were fishing will remain open after 9/21. Great place to fish when the weather cooperates. See you on the water - Ben

Welcome Hermit!
Thanks for the great report and excellent pics! Good to see another Monterey kayaker on the board.
That is a great spot for shore rockfishing but usually too big to launch a kayak (like you said). So you definitely timed it right, and glad the WX cooperated.
Thanks for the report+pics!!

Thanks to all of you for the kind words of encouragement.  I think this area will remain open to fishing.  It's nice to know that it will be there when the weather is right.  If the weather holds I'll be back out there this Sunday, hopefully filing another successful report.  My camera is just an inexpensive Nikon digital I got for 100 bucks.  I figure if something happens to it I won't be heartbroken.  I really appreciate having this site, it is an awesome place to go for information and to share experiences.  The cameraderie is incredible.   :smt006

Geez - didn't you use a blog design team?!   :smt003

It's an excellent report, first or otherwise.  Way to capitalize on the excellent conditions, and welcome to the visible side of the site.   :smt001
