Thanks everybody. We survived the night, but now 3 large holes all the way through the roof and many smaller ones through the top into an inaccessible attic.

As Eric says, it’s critical to get things dry ASAP. But, I was just up on the roof and things are still falling, including one from the same 200’ Douglas fir that has done most of the damage. After lunch I’ll give it another go, and hoping that I can get it cleared and tarped today. But, not yet sure how to get the big tarps I’ll need, as we’re trapped here until PGE repairs the fallen power lines.

We do have a pellet stove, and if I can get the leakage stopped today, that’ll be running on high for a couple of days…

That sucks!  Best of luck with repairs - both to your house and to your peace of mind!  Is that a log in your kitchen??  In my head, I am imagining that thing coming in the house through the roof like a torpedo.  Scary crap for sure!

P.S. I did file a claim with my insurance. I’ll let you know how that goes.

And when/if we get real internet service back (on my iPhone with 1 bar right now), I’ll post some more pictures.

Yes, like a torpedo is exactly what happened. We have a lower level (house is sorta stuck in a hillside, so not exactly a basement) and that’s where we spent the sleepless night…

So sorry that happened...  Super super scary.  :smt009. Some huge branches fell a couple hours ago from the big Doug Firs in my yard.  I'll take pics when it stops raining, they are huge.

Eric did professional rehabilitation and restoration of this kind of damage for years and is a 100% expert on the subject.  Do what he says.

Glad you are ok.  How terrifying.

Scary indeed but the most pressing question is how is your AI fleet?

I have the same thing from the new year's storm.I put sheet metal over the holes. I used some silicone and screws to hold it down. It worked great for temporary repair.  No leaks.  Take lots of pictures, save all receipts. Good luck!

Holy shit man! That one coming through the kitchen ceiling is something I'd expect from a Final Destination movie!

Glad you and your family are okay.
