Went forward with the Abu Garcia Max DLC from Fishermanswarehouse.com and am shocked it's going to arrive next day UPS for free   Might try it for striper this weekend.  :smt005

Al, when it arrives, there is a plastic pull tab you need to remove in order to energize the battery. Don't just pull it out. I did this and tweaked the battery connection. Simple fix but save yourself some trouble and remove the side cover to remove the plastic insulator.

I know you're asking about LC reels but I figured that I would add my $0.02 here. My kokanee and trout trolling reels are all older calcutta's and I've spooled them up with Berkley Fireline metered. The line changes color every 10 feet and allows for an approximate setback without having to purchase a new reel. You might give it a try if you like that kokanee special.

I have both the Lexa lc100 and Abu digital.  Both work well.  Only difference is the Lexa has a clicker that is nice when putting line out on a downrigger which prevents backlashes if you drop the weight too fast.  The Abu you have to thumb the spool to prevent.
Per this video there is a clicker, its on the bottom however  https://youtu.be/nlywhVdTwGI?t=800

Thanks for that bit of info, will run with it!  :smt002

Truthfully I really love my current setup, but others have convinced me that a LC is worth it, so buying one.  But I'm still not sure if I want to replace my favorite combo.  Might buy a new rod as well  :smt044  Metered line has always been something I'd like to try, so thank you for that suggestion!

You are correct.  I haven't used that reel since last summer.  I was thinking about a calcutta 50 reel I use also when I made that statement.  My bad.

It did arrive today!  What a sweet deal with free one day shipping! It would take me all day to head to Manteca and back, so I usually only stop by on the way to a lake. I It's much smaller than I imagined! Really looks perfect and not bulky, just a bit heavier than the KS but not very heavy and doesn't feel like the rod wants to turn in my hand.  The light up screen I think will be money!  Looking forward to next next weekend to give it a shot  :smt044

It does appear to be new, but the box was open, and the battery protector was already removed.  Not sure if it was a return, or if they just pulled the tab out for me before shipping though.

Yep, same video where they showed the Abu Max DLC has a clicker.  But seems far from a complete list!

The star drag also clicks with turns which seems pretty awesome.  Don't think my other reels do that
