I have a few of the lexa 100lc. They work well. I saw that Abu digital and it looks nice, maybe when one of the other reels stop functioning I can look into it more.

I use braid with a top shot of mono. Something like 15lb braid with 50ft of light mono for topline trolling. Less for downrigger trolling. More if it’s somewhere like Tahoe that’s super clear water.
That sounds pretty solid recommendation and best of both worlds.  I wonder how different the LC readings would be setting for one diamter line and having a thicker one as well.  That Max DLC actually lets you set the line size to make it more accurate.  Probably not too big of a deal though, and I like the thinner and stronger braid for spooling more line on a reel.  But having a large topshot for the benefit of shock absorbing seems like a good idea.

Al, I picked up a Abu Garcia Max DLC at the Sportsman's Expo. I've used it twice now and love it. Perfect size for Trout and Kokanee. The digital line counter is awesome! No fogging or having the reset button stick like conventional LC's do. It has a warning beep when you are 16, 8 & 4' from rod tip when retrieving and a backlight on the read out.
They have L & R hand models. They go for about $105. You wont regret getting one!

Do you find that warning beep to be annoying at all?  Curious if it can be disabled since it does have other features you can turn off from that video, but didn't see the beep one mentioned.

I've been using the Okuma Convector CV-163D for trout trolling and the Daiwa SG17LC3B for salmon trolling.  I like both.

Lighter and cheaper than the Lexa and Abu, looks pretty solid! That larger one looks pretty good as well!

Doesn't bother me, but yes you can turn it off. Actually kinda like it. Lets me know when to grab the net!

I've got a Daiwa Accudepth 17 (right hand) but I prefer the lefties so I still use the Magdas.
Since you have one, how do you like it?  I like the design of it, but haven't found a review of it yet.

It's similar to the Magda Pro but slightly smoother but I don't think they come in lefties.

Since my work gives me a wellness benefit to splurge on anything that could help in a healthy lifestyle, I chose to use all the funds for fishing equipment. As such, for this year so far for LC reels, I've bought a Daiwa Saltiga IC300H-SJ and a forcemaster 600 (electric reel). But these are for saltwater. I stopped fishing freshwater a long time ago.

I'll look forward to your report on that electric reel! We only get a 300$ stipend for office supplies.  Gotta see if we can get your policy adopted at my work  :smt002

Haha. Yeah, we get $1500 every year. I bought the battery for the reel just now. It's cool how far things have come.

Actually I think at Microsoft they let you buy something like a bike or home gym equipment.  But nothing like that at my current job.  They did just implement a sabaticle program I can look forward to a 2 month paid vacation in two years  :smt005

As your local government schlub, whose only wellness perk is getting to submit an annual “wellness survey” tht poetically ends with poop emojis and a message to stfu and get back to work……I look forward to serving you guys at the DMV when you need to renew your tags or register a vehicle.

I’ll be the guy mailing your tags to the wrong address….or with my back turned to everyone in line while I drink my coffee and chat up my colleagues.   :smt003

I have both the Lexa lc100 and Abu digital.  Both work well.  Only difference is the Lexa has a clicker that is nice when putting line out on a downrigger which prevents backlashes if you drop the weight too fast.  The Abu you have to thumb the spool to prevent.
