A couple of weeks ago  I picked up a quick pizza from MOD Pizza in Santa Clara and decided to stop by Psycho Donuts for a desert. I got my 2 donuts (1 for me and 1 for my dog Harry). I paid and left. The next morning at my office I realised I didn't have my wallet. My first thought was I left it at home so no big deal. When I got home I didn't even think to look for it. The next morning when I was getting ready to come to the office I looked for my wallet, didn't find it so I thought maybe its in my car. Once I looked in my car I got a little worried. At my office I got a cal from my bank saying my wallet was turned in. I picked up my wallet and was really surprised that the money was still in it. I was worried about my DL, CC's and the things that cant be replaced. My bank wasn't sure who turned it in, but the location gave me a clue. I went to Psycho Donuts. When I walked in the girl behind the counter said "Hey we found your wallet and turned it into the bank". I asked who found it. She told me the owners daughter. I thanked her and gave her some cash to give to the girl that found it with my thanks.

If I find something such as a phone I'll try and return it to the owner. As it was said if you didn't earn it it's not yours.

My wife and I found a small wallet with no id in it and over 1,200 cash at Disneyland.  Needless to say, we turned it in and found out a family from England on their vacation was going crazy looking for it.
So long and thanks for all the fish!!!

OK, I'll share a story, being as this seems to be a Hot Topic!

20+some years back in December, I had driven the family up to Mt. Abel near Frazier Park. We had lots of fun playing with our snow discs off the road side as it had recently snowed a bit. When we left and reached New Cayama, I realized I had lost my wallet. It was no where to be found in our company.

Fast forward to about a year ago. I get a call from a lady who lived in Frazier Park, who had been hiking with her husband near Mt. Abel. They had found a wallet. She told me there were 3 credit cards in the wallet, and my driver's license, all long since cancelled or expired. Any other paper in the wallet had disintegrated. She looked up my name online, found generally where I lived, then looked up my phone number in my local phone directory, then she calls me and asks me if I want my old wallet back?

I declined explaining with some of the before mentioned details, and after I thanked her I had to mention  that her action did quite a bit to restore my faith in humanity.

True story.

My wife found a wad of $300 in the public parking lot in Placerville.  She walked over to the city police station and turned it in.  When she got home and told me, I asked her if she was given some sort of case # or other way to claim the money if no one came looking for it. She hadn't, so we drove down there.  Now here comes the hard part;
The Placerville city police told us that anything turned in to them is their property.  There would be no claim ticket, there would be no turning over unidentified cash to anyone claiming they lost it and it would not be going back to my wife.  THEY KEEP IT.

While I will try to find a rightful owner, I've now learned that cops can be just as shitty as any other human can be.  I will never turn in anything to a cop.

While fishing with a group over here on the Sonoma Coast one of our guys found a wallet on HWY 1.

The address was close my my home in Santa Rosa. So we all agreed that I take possession and return it .

After finding the home ,  I knocked on the door , introduced my self and explained the situation to the woman that opened the door .

I received  a  " That MF`r was supposed to be at work "  ... she SLAMMED the  door ..LMAO..grateful as I was walking away that I don`t wake up to either one of those folks in the morning   :smt003

I remember that day. That was funny amigo.

Since 1990 I have found and returned 11 wallets , 1 leather binder with plane tickets, 2 cell phones and a diabetic insulin kit. I always check out the shoulder of on ramps when driving. It's always has good stiff. I have a few items on the shelf in my closet including a big bowtie knife and a speargun I never found the owners of.

A couple years ago my family stayed at a hotel in SF. We checked our luggage at the coat check for the last day in town and went to a ball game.  Came back, got the luggage and our car, and drove home.  The next morning I went to put away the luggage and discovered that we had got the wrong bag from the coat check.  Someone else had our dirty clothes, we had an envelope with tickets for all kinds of a weeks worth of touristy things in San Francisco, orchestra tickets, alcatraz tickets, and a couple thousand in cash.  I immediately called the hotel and they guy on the other end of the line was freaked out a bit.  I think that he was hearing it from many corners, because he asked if we were in driving distance.  I told him it was a 5 hour drive, he made it in 4:15.  He did give us a couple nights free stay which we were never able to use, but of course I'm going to reunite that bag with its owner.

I got my bag of dirty laundry back too.
