Anybody know if you can lanch from the baitshop at Blackpoint?

Hey Guys,

I waited until 7... no one showed but me.  No boats on the water at all.  The conditions were certainly doable... too bad I promised my wife and daughters I wouldn't fish alone anymore.  Maybe next time...

Should have waited longer as China Camp gates do not open until 8:00.
I know because I made that mistake already.

I park outside the gate... there's a big pull out-type parking area right next to it.

Backslider... are you sure Erik, Sean, Bungle, and Ben weren't down the hill launching at that time?

I must have just missed Backslider.  I got there later than planned, around 7:30.  The wind did not seem too bad from up on the hill, so I loaded up and wheeled the yak down the hill.  The wind was a different story after paddling straight out from the beach a half mile or so.  It was cold, constant, and put sizable bumps on the water.  I decided pretty quick that I didn't want to drop anchor in those condidtions, so I aborted.  Paddled back in, packed up, and went to breakfast.

Got everything ready to go still, so I'll give it another try tomorrow I think.

Hi ChuckE,

There weren't any cars at China Camp or Bullhead when I left, and I called out on Ch. 69 a few times, just to make sure I was alone.  Maybe a just missed them somehow.  It's not a big deal... the wind was such an unknown that I almost didn't bother driving down myself.  I'm actually hoping that they DID get out and that they have some epic stories to share (as well as dino photos)!

By the way, the rain started here in Santa Rosa around 10 this morning.  I probably would have been off the water by ten or eleven.

Hey Bungle, just read your last post... I had the exact same thoughts from the beach... didn't even bother to unload.  Did you see anyone else?

I was at China Camp at about 6:15 in the morning.  I took a look at it and decided to not even bother launching.  I knew the conditions would be gnarly with the south wind already blowing at a significant level.

I called Scwafish and we decided to check out Black Point instead.   Conditions were doable there but it was a constant battle between the wind and tide as to which direction the boat was pointing.  We fished till about 12:30 just on the south side of the railroad trestle for one 22 inch striper.  That was it.

Lots of fish marked all day, just not much biting.

Hey Erik,

Glad you at least made it out.  I contemplated Black Point as I got near the HWY 37 exit off of 101 north.  I should have followed the hunch as it would have been nice to hook up with you and Sean.  Oh well, we'll get it next time...

I was listening to the " Lucky Strike "  reporting on 1140 am while @ work this morning, they also were not doing well yesterday or last night. They talked about big " Barometer " movement being a key, and there were/are barometer movements. They said it's best when you have no changes for 2 days, rainy or sunny, does not matter which, just as long as it stays constant. I just picked up a nice barometer and now find myself watching like a hawk :cyclopsani:

Another toy, and my wife even likes it :smt003

Sorry you all did not fair better, I really wanted to make it out there today,

I'm thinking of trying something different and trying the Sacramento River up by Verona with pile worms. WON says;

" Sacramento Sturgeon are busting loose "......Most likely be the old " Should have been here yesterday syndrone"
