Hey peoples, I just moved to the Santa Cruz area and was looking for some dog freindly beaches (including the Monterey area).  Any thoughts?  I'm coming from the pacifica area where there were plenty of shore to fish with my pooch.
Thanks,
Ice
By the way O'neil Forbay is hitting good right now.

You should post separately asking this question in the title.
You will get more responses to your question rather than asking on someone elses post.

Thanks to the snowy plovers, it's tough to find beaches where dogs are legally allowed btwn Watsonville & Monterey.

""Leashed dogs allowed on the following beaches: Monterey State Beach, Asilomar, Garrapata, Carmel River.
Restrictions: Dogs must by on leash no longer than 6 feet. Dogs not permitted in buildings or on trails. Current rabies and license required. Dogs not allowed on the following beaches as they are nesting sites for federally listed threatened Western Snowy Plover: Zmudowski, Moss Landing, Marina, Salinas River, Seaside, Andrew Molera and Point Lobos.""

From 7am to 10am I caught nothing. Thankfully there were a handful of peeps out there that taught me things like how to cast properly (total beginner when it comes to surf-fishing).
Interestingly, I was walking down the beach towards my car around 10 to go buy a different lure, one similar to those others were using; decided to make 3 more casts and on the third, boom! Got my first striper (21" keeper).

Super fun. And no kayak gear to clean :-)

Congrats on your first surf striper, and I'm jealous you're making it seem TOO easy man...
Keep it up man.

ps: I'm back from lurking status  :smt006 :smt003
