The Hook 5 (NOT 5X) is $400 everywhere I've seen. It's more expensive if you get one of the options that includes extra map software or the pricier 50/200/455/800 transducer.

I hope they have fixed the software from the elite. My elite 5x chirp is always glitching. Depth will just flash, or the image will get all choppy, blocky. I have to shut it off and restart it at least once an outing.

Yes, I think I was reading about the problems you were having. Supposedly it's been revamped.

I see that for 469. BassPro has the Hook5 with navionics and 399. for Hook 5.

How often do you use Navionics?  Worth the extra $70?

Thanks for all the input!

$200 to buy separately.  $70 good deal if it gives you enhanced mapping for the areas you fish the most.  Most of the Bay area down to Monterey or so is covered better on the navionics.
