I made some tonight.  Fileted, dredged in flour and deep fried for the win.

Hi all,

If using Gulp or Big Hammer Perch Grubs, what size is best?  Thanks.

^^^ this sounds kind of odd.  But I used the same curly tail grub and in white.  I had no nibbles.  So I switched back to gulp sand worms and the bibbles came back.  I'm not sure how picky perch are.  :??

Always make sure the hook point faces away from the curly tail too...kinda like in VK's pic above.

Any color works great as long as it's motor oil. :)

I like to rig mine "hammer style", as described in this article. Quicker, easier, and less line twist (in my experience).

Link isn't working for some reason...

But it looks like this:

Only with a motor oil/flake grub and a little red Owner mosquito hook.

No problem! Enjoy!

All this talk of surf perch is making me miss it! Used to catch tons of these little guys when I lived down in SLO. (And some big ones, too).

One time a buddy of mine was casting a perch grub at Avila and ended up landing a BEAUTIFUL chrome Central Coast steelhead. Safely released, of course.
