I thought tropos was 2 layer an hydrus was 3 layer also in other threads the say its a slightly more breathable fabric. An craig not to be a dick but if ur purchasing the newest version even if they are very similar and you recieve the past seasons item i dont see anyone being ok with that. Say you order the new iphone 5s an you got the iphone 5 youd be pissed lol

I believe both are 3 layer.  But they aren't the same material.  Kokatat said this.  "Hydrus 3L is an improved and renamed version of our T3 material.  It uses the same high quality waterproof barrier and outer fabric and has a new inner fabric that helps promote wicking.  Only the Hydrus 3L is backed by a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship."

The original Tropos is 2 layer.
The Tropos T3 is 3-layer.
The Hydrus 3L is 3-layer.

I do not know this with 100% certainty, but I believe in 2012 Kokatat extended a lifetime warranty to the Tropos T3.

Sorry for any confusion this is causing. I just got off the phone with Kokatat in an effort to be totally clear on this. Kokatat Hydrus and Kokatat T3 are THE SAME THING. Hydrus is a rebranding of Tropos T3. SAME FABRIC / SAME LIFETIME WARRANTY. The backside of the newly branded Hydrus is slightly darker than than the T3 labeled fabric. It's just color. The reason we're not selling it as some sort of discontinued product is that it hasn't been discontinued, it's been rebranded.

The long and the short of it is this: Kokatat has stood behind every product we've ever sold. We've stood behind every product we've ever sold.
