i've got the mh trevala use it for rockcod mainly with a few salmon trolling(2.5lb ball) trips when i needed it. using it on a boat with braid allows me to work iron better. i like the faster snappy tip and i can really pop and snap iron. the rod is overkill but i like to make my iron dance. fishing from a yak i'd go with the m because the range of motion you have to work with is significantly smaller to work iron with at least. i like my iron. given that i've also been out on boats far more than on my kayak this season.. getting spoiled.

I am a big fan of the TVC-70L for rockfishing and even pulling bigger plugs on the river.  I bounced and cast 2 oz. swimbaits all day on Wednesday and my arm was hardly sore.  The highlight was a 31" x 18# ling, which created the bendo below.
