So in layman's terms.....the bigger abs make so many eggs that even though a bigger percentage are duds.....overall they still kick out more good ones.....Have to agree with Allen & Nate here.

I believe Matt means well but honestly the damage is done and I don't think anyone here at NCKA is in a big hurry to run out there to try to get a limit right now anyway. As far as I know the vis still sucks and I for one will wait until the tests come back and say whether or not the abs that are left are going to be safe to eat right now. That is important to me. jim

Sorry all......and Matt.  I wasn't bagging on Matt.  I was just trying to make the point to limit ourselves in all regions as a result of the die-off.  Vastly increased effort in another area as a result of the die-off is like having another die-off.  I think Matt was/is doing the right thing.

The Ab resource is so important to us all, we tend to get a little hot-headed.  Good research on abalone reproductive rates!..........bunch of smart guys around here.

Hey DaveW after re reading you are right I should of worded that better by saying to spread out to new area's not just Mendo. Cause you are right to shift the pressure to another area does not solve the true problem just moves it. That is one of the big issue's we have now cause they did not go with proposal 2XA and the pressure shift is causing the issues at reef and Fort Ross,
