I have been using 30 lb braid with an 8 foot top shot of 20 pound mono.  Although I have yet to bring a WSB to gaff, I did hook up to one and I did not in any way feel over matched.  In fact, the biggest issue for me was that I had the drag set too heavy which eventually resulted in the hook pulling out of the WSB mouth.

I might try to join you on Monday...that's if I'm not too tired from the Red Barn weekend.

Can't do Monday - have another Doc appointment.

I hope your appointment goes well.  Would have loved to fished with you, hopefully next time.
