Not a very big fish  :smt017  that thing looks bigger than Freddie.

Damn just how big does a fish have to be before you can say that's a nice big fish ?

Good job on the fish Fred. thanks for the post very detailed  blow by blow (literally)  Now who out there would not want Chuck fishing next to them.

You know I was thinking about how long you said the fight was and it's funny it doesn't last as long as you would think. But the time and effort that it takes just to hook one of those bad boys is all part of the over all  experience. So when you do catch one there's just that much more love. :smt055

man I got to get back out there on the water, sure wish the bait was a little easier to get. Hey where was the bait shop in Oakland ? Heck that might be a better tip than where you have to go to catch one of these things.        good job guy's good team effort  :smt002

Owen - Fred is only 4 feet tall  :smt002  Just kidding Fred...I'm just jealous of the fact that you caught a keeper dino on your second trip. Fishing next to Chuck has not brought me any luck....I have a feeling he's been secretly applying some vicks vapor rub on my sturgeon leaders  :smt013 :smt003

sure wish the bait was a little easier to get.
Crown Beach in Alameda build a pump and all your bait is free. When I lived in Alameda I had a fridge in the garage
with trays of ghost shrimp. You can also freeze gallons of water and use a big ice chest.
An aerator and change the water every couple of days it will stay lively for over a week.
I had guys calling my house all the time begging for bait. No more waiting for the shop to open plus better bait.
Buy a new rod instead of bait it's really fun and easy once you get the hang of it.

I think it  would be worth it to pump shrimp if I can keep them alive for a week
thanks for the info.

If it is really that easy why is it that more of these bait shops don't have live bait?

Ok Guys so what's this thing: Pumping for ghost shrimp? You build some kind of pump out of PVC and then you suck water under rocks with it. You then hope to get shrimps that way? I definitely need to learn how to do this instead of hunting for bait shops. Are there articles, pictures related to this technique anywhere? :smt017
Thanks, Alain

Owen-
Thanks... but like I said before, Chuck set me up pretty good. Plus, I think he sent a little luck my way. Sitting and waiting for action isn't too bad while fishing next to him. We always have something to BS about. And don't get me wrong. I appreciated the experience very much. I know that it may be a long time before I hook into another one. So, I'll savor every bit of this one now.

Mooch-
Don't hate... you got a jackpot fish... remember???

I'm not a "hater"....I'm just jealous of the fact that it only took you two trips out in the Bay to catch a monster dino. So, far I think I'm 0-20  :smt011
Besides, Blue Kayak REALLY deserves the jackpot with that 37 # Salmon  :smt007 He beat my catch by 10 friggin pounds  :worship :worship :worship
