Mooch pretty much summed up the week at Bliss. It was great... other than the rain here and there. It was a great trip. The water was on the cool side. Somebody dropped half of a trap or as they like to say... "only half of the trap came up... I swear." Either way, I went swimming... no 7mm for me, just a mask, snorkel and board shorts. The water was deeper than it looked too. One thing for sure, I can get down a lot better wearing a belt and fins. Got the trap back and all was well. We sure did clean up on the dads. The next day, I went swimming again. This time somebody pulled the traps and dropped one in deeper water. When I went out to check the traps, I only saw two of them out there. I paddled around and saw my float for the third one under water. So, off with the shirt, on with the mask and into the water I went. The kids had a blast playing with the dads. Running around or should I say terrorizing the campsite riding their bikes. It was all good. I did manage to fish hard for a few hours before the family got up there. The bite was early... real early. I caught some and lost some. Nothing really big but it was all good. I'm just happy to avoid a ride on the skunk train. The only bummer about it was me losing a $9.00 spoon on the very first and only drop. That sucked... Melissa had a hard time with the heavy pine pollen in the air. And she got bit by bugs that really messed her up. Either that or she was allergic to something up there. The cool part for her was seeing a bear. We saw one running along side the highway by Emerald Bay. I pulled up along side it and barked at it. It gave me a funny look that made Mel laugh and it took off up the hill. Sorry no pix... I left the camera at the camp. Actually, Moochie did such a great job being the trip photographer that I didn't really need to take many pix... if any. Anyways, I'll do a better job at taking pix in a couple of weeks when we head back up there. Hopefully, Mooch will be able to make the trip again and relieve me of my duties of taking pictures.

Those are the type of trips where you can really appreciate the value of good friendships. Thanks for the report, planning on heading up to that area in a couple of weeks. I like the pics too. Looks like everyone had a great time

Sorry for the late post.  I'm finally caught up.
I left all fishing and diving gear home so I wouldn't be tempted to abandon the family.  Instead, we hiked, biked, kayaked and SUP'd.  It was a great 4 days of fun.
After that, we headed to the OC and relaxed in Newport Beach (no fishing or diving).

Here's a few pics that I pulled off the camera:

I almost spilled my soda while i was laughing so hard from that sequence of pictures. I mean, friends are there to laugh at you when you do stuff no one wants to see, it's just unfortunate that there's pictures to prove that it happened!  :smt044 I remember when i was camping at blue lakes and my dad put the ice chest under the truck and i heard a huff and the ice chest slide i thought it was him getting a drink...i am in the cab and my dad is in the bed, i look through the glass and my dad is still sleeping...i knock on the glass and said i heard something, just then we heard a pounding and scratching noise and the ice chest opening...the bear had taken a plastic snapple and dribbled a trail all over the place...guess what smart guy dad decided to do? Get out of the camper shell and "take a look"...then I'm flashing the light out the front window not seeing anything but hearing EVERYTHING then i see this monster bear run up into the other persons RV campsite because a dog was barking at it  :smt044 I know make sure that when camping the food and snapple are stored HIGH in the trees or whatever i manage to rig up because i literally flailed and screamed like a little girl.
The charm of fishing is that it is the pursuit of what is elusive but attainable, a perpetual series of occasions for hope.  ~John Buchan
