For me I like P-line. CXX green for the delta and floroclear for the clearer lakes.
If you must have someone put it on the spool for you avoid Mels go to Coyote or Fishermans.
Another trick when you get twisted. Drag the line behind your yak by its self then reel it back in it removes all the line twist.

Good old Berk Trilene XL (the smooth stuff) works great in spinning reels. Especially when pitching lures.

A short story: sometimes employee ineptitude works in your favor! About 5 years ago, I bought a large sized Shimano Stradic reel from Big 5 (for surf fishing). I had them spool it up with some line. I forget how much the line cost per yard but the total was about 4 bucks. Well, the guy put a sticker on the reel box, indicating the extra 4 bucks for line. But the gal that worked the cash register thought it was the price of the reel!!!! So she charged me about 4 bucks for a brand new Stradic reel!

I know about laying the line out, it was too late for the crap loaded on my reel.(Tried that)  fair statment "Avoid Mel's" they were the ones that loaded the spool, they won't be reloading it!

Trilene XL is my favorite plain ol' mono line... not to stretchy, casts well, very little memory.  The trilene big game works good in salt too... They make stuff called vanish if flourocarbon is your thing.  I guess I'm pretty much a trilene whore.  Fireline is tough as hell as well..LOL

I've been using Power Pro spectra for most all my gear and it's freakin' unreal how little memory and line twist there is. I've been using it on my spinning reels for a while now and it's doing pretty good. On my newest rod I spooled it w/ mono and remembered why I switched. After one day I freaked out on the loops and crap. I think I'm going to re-spool with some Berkley Fireline crystal. I've heard some rave reviews about it.

I have "Vanish" on my trout reel, it's fine, no loops, casts nice.  Not exactly sure why I had Mel's spool on that stuff, I don't remember the old line ever giving me fits, klike this new crap.  Maybe I was running low on the old stuff and thought it's be nice to upgrade to newer line?  Yeah that worked out well!
Last time at Bass Pro Shop in Las Vegas, I bought Berkleys little line spooling station, I'll give it try when I get my new line.
