Would it work to make a pigtail to connect an external battery to the charging poles?

Not sure if the circuitry excludes operation while charging.
Thought about that and keeping waterproof to da max...

Someone should really figure out how to wire one up to a battery.  Game changer!

I agree. I might give it a try since my battery is dying and it’s not replaceable.
Australian eBay sells battery replacement for SharkShield as well.  But would imagine connecting it to an external source should not be a problem given that we can find the battery that provides the proper voltage.

Here is a video on replacing the battery:

I have an older one, with clear case. Supposedly, batteries for these are no longer available:

I tried turning mine on while charging but it didn’t work. Also, my Sharkshield  is about two years old, and I’m pretty sure it takes a different battery pack than the aftermarket one for sale, and in the video. The specifications show a ICR 18650 7.4V/3200mAh (2 cells per pack). Looking at mine it appears to have a plug rather than soldered connections.

Does a SS interfere with a transducer? I have my transducer mounted in the center of my Hobie with the Lowrance Ready setup. Seems like routing the SS cable through any of the scuppers would run the risk of brushing against the transducer cover/plate on the bottom of the hull.

Mine works just fine.  The SS cable is less than 12" away from my transducer.  I am sure with the right turns/circumstances, they could be on top of each other from times to times.

That's my experience too. I have a pretty basic FF though, so I'm not sure whether advanced features (side scan?) might be affected, but I doubt it.
