I see on ebrp shadow cliffs is closed to parking, but walk-in are ok.   Some trails closed because of damage.   Was open to fishing with no permit before.  Don’t know now.

Cosumnes river preserve was open today.  Kayak Dave and I got some great exercise with good weather.  No fish to brag about though.

The list now includes Folsom Lake.  Looks like the State is shutting down just about every state park in advance of this weekend to not repeat the problems of last weekend.

I noticed that Folsom was on the list, but if you go to their website, it says that the non-camping areas remain open as of 3-26-20.  Guess we wont know for sure until someone gives it a try.

Yes you are right that it is open for anyone that walks in.  It is closed to all vehicles; which eliminates being able to launch a boat and will require a very long walk to launch a kayak

SANTA CRUZ HARBOR
NOTICE OF LAUNCH RAMP CLOSURE

Until further notice, in compliance with the shelter-in-place order issued by the State of California and the County of Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz Harbor's launch ramp is closed effective 10:00 pm on Friday, March 27, 2020. The County shelter-in-place order directs all governmental agencies to cease non-essential operations at physical locations in the County; prohibits all non-essential gatherings of any number of individuals; and, orders cessation of all non-essential travel.

Only the following essential launch ramp activity is authorized during the closure:
Vessels engaged in commercial fishing (with valid permits)
First responder vessels
Slip renter vessels
The launch ramp is closed to all other activity.

It had been our intent to continue to allow recreational launch ramp activity as long as it complied with social distancing requirements recommended by federal, state and local health officials to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Unfortunately, closures of launch ramps at all other coastal harbors along the California Central Coast has necessitated Santa Cruz Harbor follow suit to ensure protection of its employees, business operators and users during this unprecedented public emergency.

We recognize this is a disappointment for many of our users, especially annual launch ramp customers and boaters whose vessels occupy dry storage. In the weeks ahead, we will be looking at options for mitigating this loss of service.

That’s not right, if you pay for a slip on the water at top $$ (at least up here there too $$ ) you can fish..... but you can’t park anywhere near no one, throw your kayak in the same water and fish by yourself. Only thing I want to know is there dock 7 ft wide. Slip owners can’t walk around each other if it isn’t.

East Bay Regional Park District closures:  https://www.ebparks.org/news/park_n_trail_closures.htm

Yesterday I spoke with an EBRPD ranger and he said that many of the parks are available via walk-in access. Happily, this includes Big Break except for its visitor center, the new and very nice windsurfing/kayak launch ramp at PT. Isabel, and Alameda Beach access to name a few East Bay sites.

Generally, walk in access seems to be the order of the day, BUT our local Emergency Response and Communication Center (Alameda) yesterday issued a communique that basically stated that starting next week the police will begin surveilling known locations and groups of people who are violating the State SIP order. Their intended purpose is to “inform and educate” people about the situation, and later they will enforce as needed. This seems to be part of a larger, weekly stepwise rollout of the restrictions intended to get us gradually under control. The communique also spoke to tightening things up on what are considered “essential activities” and travel. This is pretty aligned with the gist of the Santa Cruz Harbormaster’s closure statement.

As a result of that communique, I’m uncertain if my 16’ long mango colored rooftop kayak missile will cause me an unwanted chit chat with the popo... 😬

Washington state is closing all sports fishing.  Hope this doesn't happen here.  Fish responsibly and fish solo.  Don't park in crowded areas and attract attention.

Does this mean beach launching a kayak is now prohibited?  :smt010
Or is it OK?

NOTICE OF LAUNCH RAMP CLOSURE

Kind of ridiculous, IMHO. I can't think of anything less risky than being on the water 1/2 mile from anybody else. And it's easy enough to stay far apart when launching and landing.

How about the hand launch ramps?

Anyways, here's the view from West Cliff today. I hope I can get out there on Wednesday...

Wish i could join you. My son is a April fools baby. Will be relaxing with him with whatever he would like to do. Good luck. Conditions look to be better on that side of the bay. Not sure how far out ?
