I have owned my Torqeedo since 09   The only thing I don't like about it is the awkward controller mounting.
When Bixpy came out with their unit I was invited to San Diego to test it out with the designer.       Between the two drives, the Torqeedo has way more power and speed.  Hands down, no comparison!   However. The Bixpy has several  advantages.   Wireless wrist controller is my favorite  PLUS a second battery is  only half the  price of Torqeedo's..   Additionally you could also run your FF off that same battery.   Better mounting options come with the Bixpy...
Both motors have the same "whine" noise.. the only way around that is with a MinnKota or some other like the Watersnake.     I'd suggest spending the dollars on a good lithium battery...not the heavy lead type.

To use it for long hauls like you mentioned, you'd be better off mounting the Bixpy at the back end, rather than in the drive well.   That way you could pedal at a much easier pace with the  motor pushing as an assist.    That extends my Torqeedo range to somewhere around 30 miles according to the onboard calculator. " Moto assist"    I figure it's like riding an electric  bike on the road, don't need registration for those.. If you have a paddle in your hand ( or pedalling )  you like "Human Powered",     I can't imagine a law enforcement citing you for not having registration.. Never had any challenges in 10 years passing thru harbors...

Thank you for your detail response.
For my Oasis tandem I would like to install Bixpy in drive well and  for Rev. 13 at the rear. rudder.  This way I can always pedal/human power as primary power.  I was considering purchasing two mounting options to accommodate my situation.  I searched website for Bixby battery range test but I didn't find any.  Also, I am waiting for some extended use reviews.  Most of reviews on websites are initial use or installation related issue.   Compare to  Torqeedo 403 (Approx. 1 hp Equivalent), how much power do you think Bixpy Jet has?

2 things: A) The absence of end user reviews is concerning. That means they haven’t sold many units and don’t have much of a track record. If you buy one, you’ll be the “bleeding edge.”  B) About that Oasis, duh, buy a faster more efficient hull and the problems will go away! The inefficient hull is the problem, so solve that.

Brad, I believe he mentioned it’s for him and his wife thus the tandem. I don’t know if there’s any peddled power tandem kayak that’s more ideal than the Oasis. The AI tandem maybe, but it has some disadvantages (price, weight, size, extra setup, etc). Things some people may not want to deal with. I understand where the OP is coming from. I have toyed with the idea myself to get my wife to go out more OTW.

Herb, understood, and you’re right, the AI is the better answer here, cost not considered, but my point is to address the real problem — a less efficient hull. The hull will also impact the performance of the motor AND the seaworthiness in the open ocean.  Pushing the limits of a nearshore vessel to 10+ miles offshore as an extension to the limits of the human power plant may not be a good idea.  Out there, we want every card in our favor.  Just sayin’.

Maybe the OP and wifey can find enjoyment in other less dicey nearshore fishing pursuits....  That Revo-13 is a different story.

I am very lucky to have my wife as my best fishing buddy.  If you wife becomes you fishing buddy, you can go fishing as much as you can.  She enjoys greatly most times more than I do.  As we get older we try to do many hobbies together as much as we can, including kayak fishing/netting, ski, snowboarding, road biking, gardening and hiking.

I need to explain my 8-12 miles trips.  It is round trip miles.  I never get more than 2 miles offshore.  My typical lobster hoopnetting trips are from Redondo Beach to Palos Verdes hugging shore lines due to no easy kayak launch locations near Palos Verdes.  Since I spent 4 years as a naval officer, I do understand ocean conditions more than average people and would not expose my wire to unnecessary risk.  Thank you for your concern.

Same here. My wife grew up fishing in the Marshall Islands catching all kinds of fish with her dad. I Have taken her fishing in a lot of places, but she has limitation also (seasick/less stamina)

That’s awesome, good for you two. Too bad my wife has zero interest in fishing.  I totally understand the OP’s wishes, I’m just reluctant to throw good money at the symptom of a problem, and I’m also leary of a solution that can get folks deeper into a situation that they’ve already acknowledged is at the limit of what they can handle on their own (I.e., when the inevitable system suffers a failure).

Run into much kelp on the way to PV?  I've hooped in & just outside King Harbor many times, but never made the pedal to PV.
Yes, some kelp near PV.  It was some workout for us.

You may want to think this for the long term.  If you are doing this long enough, you may want to just go straight to the end solution instead of trying a few in between.
A man who always goes somewhere but is always nowhere suggested the above approach and I think his advice is becoming truer with every passing season.

Hobie Tandem Island with gas motor.

Thank you for your wise advise.
That would be a drastic change from my current set up.
Will be watching Hobie Tandem Island users in my future fishing trips.

Digging up this old thread to see how the OP did with solving the electric motor concern. Any update?
