Havent updated in a while, figured i should. I went back to work, 4/17/17. Strained my back by 9 am. Muscled thru, but could not get out of bed the next morning. Worked until that Friday, and the surgeon took me off work. Workers Comp is now unfortunately involved, so on 5/3, the boss said go to this Dr. That Dr sent me back to work...that day! I didnt take any pain meds-had to drive up to the dr in sac. Didnt bring any, figured i was coming right back home. My boss sent me home by the end of the day.
When i was setting up my computer at my desk, i felt a pop, tear, and a nice long pull all the way up into my left shoulder...
The worker's comp nightmare is something that needs to change. I hired counsel to help with the process.
Yesterday, Fri, i had another follow up with my surgeon. He took me off work for another month...

On the pancreas front. Good news there! The lab work is steady. I had a scan on wednesday and the Dr called and said everything is the same. The tumor is not shrinking anymore, still wrapped around the stomach. As long as it is not constricting that, or growing we are good. He isnt going to make any changes to medications right now because the labs are steady and the scan didnt show anything to worry about.
The plan is to get the back healed up before another surgery on my pancreas. They will probably hit it with radiation to keep it from growing back.
Got a lot on my plate, but i will get it cleaned up one bite at a time!
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Rich,

I just had my entire lumbar region opened up since they found out I had a congenital narrowing of my spinal canal. Take that along with an impact injury and for the past 18 years I have been in constant pain and had a hard time standing and the only way out of my kayak was to "manatee" out of it.

Three weeks ago I had"non-invasive surgery," which is BS since I have a four inch scar on my lower back, and when I woke up, I was able to stand without wobbling. I was able to walk so fast that the nurse on my leach told me to slow down. I didn't and commenced to do laps around the ward. They wanted me in a walker but I just carried it around. I wasn't a "model patient" for them and they didn't know what to do since I kept getting out of my bed to pace in my room. They finally armed my bed so they knew when I got out. Dammit.

I am still healing but am doing my own physical therapy, since I don't see my neurosurgeon till Thursday. I just can't sit around so I am trying my best to get back into my routine. He will be suprised by my progress in such a short amount of time.

I sure hope you heal well too, so you can do what you want. Back problems are a b*tch, and they can ruin your lifestyle if you don't take care of it. I send you good vibes and juju on a speedy recovery and hope you can get back to normal.  :smt003
