I use a 6'6" Trevala in Medium paired with a Revo Toro (I have used both the 50 and 60). I started out with a 7' Trevala in Light that I picked up used for a great price but found that it was too light. Look at the bend in the photo on a 30" Ling. I skipped the ML and went for the M and I love it.

Keep in mind the length of a rod comes into play as a longer rod may be more sensitive but has less backbone to it. Boat rods tend to be shorter as once they hook up, they are not going for a sleigh ride. They need to fight, we can go for a ride, and the lighter gear gives us a greater amount of flexibility.
