For fishing anything up to 4 oz the ML Trevala is a great rod.

Most of the guys here like  limp rods I like my rods a little stiffer.medium and up
My biggest worry is that my wife(when I'm dead)will sell my fishing gear for what I said I paid for it

I like my MH Trevala just fine. My issue is I am using the same big reel for salmon for bottom fishing. I may still give ML a try. Found it on eBay for $119 with shipping.

Put a small bait caster on it.i use quantum energy reels on mine.i use braid so it holds enough line.but if your using mono it doesn't hold that much mono

If the combo isn't balanced, it will tire your arm out.  Try something like this on it, and will probably feel a lot lighter: http://www.amazon.com/Abu-Garcia-Ambassadeur-AMBS-5500-Right/dp/B00F64CX6O

This rod is light  and sensitive so i did not have problem with MH. Broken a month ago and Shimano just sent me a new one.

Good customer service is rather rare these days. Good on Shimano.

Depends on what your reel is too. I like to use a smaller reel and find the Trevela ML does a great job.  So does some of the newer Ugly Stix and the older Tiger Lite sticks.   I read once that McKim and Sammons used Pike rods for marlin or some other SoCal  big fish.

For the most part.. Some just excel at certain things. I'm not one of them. I got a shimano tr100g with a power handle.

It works great, and its light. I just got a new reel.  If this is something that interest you. I can sell it to you. Its in great condition.  PM me.

I never bought reels over 50 bucks.  But having decent gear does. make fishing a bit more enjoyable.  Mines is a trevala medium with a lexa 300.

Im thinking about getting a ML so I can use it for bait and fresh water.

I picked a Shimano Clarus Worm Jig rod on clearance sale at FW for $45 about 3 years ago.  I paired it with an older generation green Shimano Curado 200.  It can handle any RF or Ling I've encountered.  It was my go to set up last Saturday.

Strength per pound of rod weight trevala was the lightest I ever fished with.

If I have my wife fishing I have her use the trevala and I use the heavy stuff.

Reels are heavier than the rod might wanna look into lighter reel maybe?
