Thanks Eric.... Glad to be able  to support GS9 ... Unfortunately timing not good for me this year . Next year GS10 will have to be one of my goals.

OPS and myself wish you all have a safe and successful event !!!

Right on OPS!!!

Hopefully you'll be in tomorrow as I plan on hitting OPS in the morning, and that plan comes from this donation from OPS and Discount Bay Tackle in El Cerrito for saying "No" to my request for a small prize for the raffle,,,

I usually don't get "tweaked" by a refusal to donate as these places get pounded for request for stuff, but in this case it's BS and I'm done with El Cerrito Bay Tackle,, George does not respect us as kayak fishermen or the troops,,,

F$#%# Him…  I loved it too,,,  I asked for a small prize, "well, I know you spend a lot of money here, and I have helped you before with HOW ( which he has, a little ) but I have expenses, blah blah, blah….."  Then he has the nerve to ask me if I'm still interested in a Stradic Spinning reel that I was looking at in his store and I was going to buy it… "Well, Ya know, I've got expenses, kids going to college, retired, I've got to watch my expenses, so I think I'll buy it on Amazon….."   :smt047

I'll bring some HOW stickers to the shop...

The raffle was a HUGE success!!!

I totally underestimated how much work it would be, and overestimated my ablity to do it all alone.  :smt005 :smt044

Luckily though, tons of awesome people just stepped up out of nowhere to help and make it all happpen and run totally smooth!!!

From selling tickets, guarding $, moving tables, setting up prizes, carrying prizes up to podium, getting bags ready to draw winners, counting out $$ and splitting it in half for PIF/HOW...

Peeople like Sarge, Scotty, Sara, Shannon, Luis, EWB, baitnbeers son, Sara's son Quinn, and many more just jumped right in to help without me even really having to ask...  :smt008

The prizes were AWESOME, the format was great and I thought it all went super smooth...

At the end of the day we had raised over DOUBLE what we raised with the raffle at GS8 last year!!!

 :smt007 :smt007

NorCal HOW took home $1,879, and PIF took home $1,879 as well!!!

$3,758 total!!!!!

 :smt007 :smt004 :smt007

Huge thanks again to Eric, GS, all the amazing prize donors and everybody who helped out!!

 :smt006

Sincerely,

Jim

YES!!!

Very Awesome y'all and y'all don't know how much this actually took a load off my mind…  we used funding to get Central HOW and now Shasta HOW off the ground and also have lost some of that funding as the locals that were raising monies for us, are now raising monies for their local chapter, which is great, but it left us with a problem of not being self sufficient with the need of buying a trailer which we are also in the process of doing…

So THANK YOU again NCKA for knocking it out of the park again,,,

The foundation for this program on the entire west coast is set and just about ready to take off and that is all because of all of you NCKA…   :smt006

Best G.S. yet. The campground scene was noticeably quieter this year without Fishmaster1. I thought the friday night karaoke was a great thing. The tacoshack flowed smoothly this year thanks to all my brothers and sisters. It really does take a village to raise a tacoshack. I know i can't remember everyone but ill try.
Keil brought the tortillas, piski brought the peanut oil and club soda, sctrace brought the cabbage and washed the dishes, snapperhead meticulously de-boned and portioned a shitload of fish, Tiny manned the batter station, i manned the fryer, I can't remember who was cooking the tortillas, my older brother Adam whiting dressed and served the tacos. Rancidrob and many others donated their hard earned fillets. I forgot all who but please accept my thanks and please chime in and let us know who you are.Oh yeah, fish works made one of the mango salsas, fisheducator made the crema and someone else made another mango/avocado salsa. We managed to pump out well over 500 fish tacos.

Thank you so much to the sponsors (I'll have individual followup posts here and elsewhere for sponsors), the participants, my helpers in scoring, potluck and awards, my family and especially Claire for partnering with me for years in a row now, Don for the great work on the PA, Jack and his crew in the best taco shack on the west coast, and a huge thanks to Big Jim Russell.  Jim's assistance with the raffle and the flow of the ceremony was crucial.  I can't ever say enough about how much I appreciated his attentiveness, positive attitude and willingness to do whatever I needed in order to pull off a great gig.

You're the man, Jim Russell.   :smt001
