We , as kayakers ,as they say "ya pay your money and ya take your chances"  It's like driving down the road after midnight and worrying if you going to get hit by a drunk driver.Try to limit your exposure and enjoy what you do.
Respond to life as if it is the first day of your life and the last day of your life.

Get in chopper and fly over the water and see where they are.  I got to do that once in a Huey back when I was in FL National Guard, they were everywhere, not whites but sharks in general (not sure but in the 3-9 foot range)

More sharks, more kayakers, more divers, more go-pro action!
Unfortunately there will be more mistaken tastings on the sharks part, no more dangling for me!! Hope everyone comes home with nothing more than a once in a lifetime campfire story.
Stay close, be safe and don't forget to B'rope up!

What if it was two sharks working as a team?

I don't think they're that smart, or at least not that cooperative. If orcas had a taste for humans, then we'd all be in trouble.

Ditto if GWS develops a taste for skinny humans, and cooperative hunting. :smt009

it is only a very few who see them,I talked to folks been otw their whole adult life and some and have never seen one first hand....but I also had about 1/3 of water folks tell me a story like mine...3-4 off pacific grove...3-4 carmel....3-4 off the break water MBK...and a few big sur stories....thats just folks i've talked too

here's a story for ya...
after it happened to me my gal said she "did not want to say anything and just closed her eyes and tried to not look"....pretty much her exact words...she told me that around august or sept last year when I had her out with me(she had floated in from the first yellow can towards the tin shack and the kelp bed there off monterey beach condos by the jogging grass area) anyways she caught and released her first solo lingcod just under 22" and beautiful blue one....so I was happy she was getting the hang of things and wanted to let her fish without being on top of her and coaching etc...and fishing out by the can and she was drifting in but catching stuff and doing well....later....like two friggin months  later...she tells me...I saw a big black shape go by slow right under my kayak....I was like wtf why did'nt you tell me or paddle over or scream.....no you saw this or you saw that...and she swears she saw a big shark outline cruise by to her right side very slow and down underwater a ways...she said "she closed her eyes and looked the other way "to forget it was there"...I swear this is her story...I dont know what she saw ..but that is funny and worrisome at the same time...never said a word to me at the time....hahahaahahh

when I split traffic on my streetbike, when we go for ride and get stuck on one etc... she closes her eyes so I kind of believe the story... :smt013 :smt013 :smt013 :smt013
We are what we pretend to be, so we must be careful about what we pretend to be.

I want to stay as close to the edge as I can without going over. Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

People aren’t supposed to look back. I’m certainly not going to do it anymore.”
