I have a small hole for the power wire to go through. Rubber grommet just big enough for the wire. And sealer over the pass through.

Grommets and Goop are a kayaker's friends.

I use a wine cork with a slit. I slide the cable into the center of the wine cork and press it into the hole almost flush. It all fits real snug, add a quick smear of goop and done. Mike

These Lock N Lock tupperware boxes work great. And they only cost like $5 at Walmart, Target, etc. Been using this method for 6yrs and approx 7 different FF setups that I have installed.

Drill a hole and install a grommet, and bam! Waterproof battery box.

+1 on the Lock-N-Lock's!  Been using one for 5 years and I even had it on deck once partially submerged in saltwater.  Never leaked once!  I'd put the wire through the Lid though.  :smt002

Right on, thanks for the info. Inexpensive and sounds like it works great

Just went to batteries plus and got my 12v 7amp battery with a 1 amp trickle charger. Need to make my way to Wally World and get me one of those Tupperware lock n lock and maybe some more lures  :smt003
Still waiting to get my transducer arm from hook1. It shipped out Tuesday and still haven't received it

I just got my order from hook1. The transducer arm was easy to put together and looks alright. It hangs down past the bottom of the kayak a couple inches. The battery and charger came out to $57 I think. Battery was $32 I think. I rather buy it local than online and having to wait. I got it in Stockton since I couldn't make it to the Modesto one after work at all this week.

Alright last question for yall, what kind of fuse did you get? Can I get it anywhere? I'm thinking of having wires and the fuse permently install on the Tupperware and have quick disconnect/connections outside the Tupperware. Thanks again for all the helpful information

Typically, I don't think you HAVE TO have one, but I prefer it anyway.  Any kind of inline fuse will work... either tube or blade style.  Waterproofing of course being a consideration.  I forget what the amp rating on mine is, but I can't imagine it needs to be very high.  Maybe 5 amps?  I'm sure someone will chime in with a more specific answer.

Fishbuckets just dropped off another batch of batteries to Adventure Sports. They were free before. Give them a call for a battery. Most FF require a 3 amp fuse. I prefer the "blade" style. The old glass one can break fairly easy in these conditions. The holders you can get at O'reilly or other auto parts stores.

+1
Get blade style holder like the picture below.

I install mine with dialetic grease on the wire/connector before crimping with a butt connector, then I shrink tube it. If you can get the shrink tube with the glue in it , it works the best for keeping the connections clean and dry. Also I use these adhesive Gardner Bender 1 in. x 1 in. Mounting Pads inside the kayak for wire management. You can find a pack of them at Home Depot for a couple bucks.
