I don't know. Looking at the two they are different units. I'm not sure what the x means

FYI,
X means excludes GPS.
Elite / Mark-4 = FF+GPS
Elite / Mark-4x = FF only

Also,
The standard unit has a round signal that gets wider as it goes deeper ... like a cone inverted

A DSI signal is very narrow side to side, but gets wider front to back as it goes deeper ... this creates a slice type image.

Because the DSI signal only shows a slice of the water column the image on the screen is more clear.
Drawback to DSI,
It takes a higher frequency (400-800hz) which has a more difficult time pushing through the water column. Usually only useful to a hundred feet or so.

A standard signal doesn't need such a high frequency (200khz) so it is capable of pushing through the water column easier. Usually usefully to depth of 500 feet or so.

FWIW,
If you were looking for a signal for really deep, a frequency of 50-80khz would be preferred. Usually usefully in saltwater applications.

Also,
Remember that with denser water (salt, alge, mud), your depth range will be reduced.

Hope this helps clear some issues about FF's

Sent from my phone cause I can ;-)

Thanks yakhopper for the useful information. That did clear up some things I did not know about. I probably will never fish salt water, at least not by my kayak.

I was thinking of using one of those arms off the side of a Trident instead of the permanent "glue in" installation. I have a cheap HB now but may upgrade. I'll wait to see how yours comes out...

I think it's going to come out pretty sweet. That transducer arm will work great on my sliding rails. I'm excited to get everything and install it and get otw and catch some fish hiding in the deep

Still searching locally for a 12v battery and a sealed box for it. Might try sears tomorrow. Wish bass pro would have had everything. Fingers crossed for taking the kayak this weekend. Will post pictures of my setup after everything is installed

I use a Pelican 1120 box for all my kayaks. The battery can be found at  Batteries plus. They are fairly common where batteries are sold. Also you can get them where house alarms are sold.

How would you rig it up with the wires? Pretty cool that you can drive a car on top of it without crushing it
