2011 ling regs

If you think you can ask a warden and get the right answer you are sadly mistaken.  I was up at Stillwater Cove on the last weekend of abalone and after talking to a buddy of mine who had speared a ling just a few weeks earlier I had a question in my mind.  If I see a ling today can I shoot it.  I asked several people that day, like the guy who rusn Timber Cove who told me "NO, it closed on Nov. 1, my buddy who told me, "Yes, it closes on Nov. 30th", a lifegaurd on the coast who told me, "Yes" and finally I saw a DFG WARDEN in full uniform standing next to his Warden truck, on duty watching some ab divers in Stillwater Cove.  So I approached him and said, " Excuse me I was wondering if you could tell me if it is legal to spear lingcod right now while spearfishing."  His exact words were, and I quote, " I don't have the slightest idea.  I am new here and just came down from Chico and I am mostly on abalone duty."  I then said, "Are you serious?"  To which he said, " Ya, sorry I don't know what to tell ya."  Are you F...ing kidding me?  We pay their salary and they don't even know the regs they are supposed to be out their enforcing.  What kind of bullshit is that.  I was blown away.  Good luck figuring out the regs when you can't even get an answer from a Warden.

The newly-adopted regs go into effect in March each year (they don't begin on Jan 1st). It's always been this way.

Spoke with Milo the presdent of scan last night about this and he stated now it is being tied up with the FED's they are trying to stop it ! Thanks Obama !!!
