The Halloween Perch :smt044

Alex, you forgot to suck on the eyeballs and eat the cheeks!  There is enough there for breakfast.

Oh... NO.. I didn't :smt044 I had to keep it rated (PG) didn't want to freak out the kids too much more. :smt078

It's funny, I was telling Alex how I thought my steamer basket  method was low waste. He said, " I didn't see no head." I'm guilty as charged. I'm not hardcore enough for brain and eyeball sucking.  :smt005

Hi Alex!  :smt006
Thanks again for hooking me up w/those crabtraps. I appreciate it. We'll definitely have to hookup again for some perching action. It's always fun to walk the beach w/friends. And it was also nice to actually catch some perch for once lol. We really got into them at that first spot. I missed 4 fish in 4 casts at one point D'OH! I'm gonna use a longer, more limber rod next time because I missed a lot of hits w/my 7.5' bass rod.
I haven't heard from Mosca and Howdy (I think that's Ben's handle lol) or Brandon (not Brendan), but hopefully they got some more perch after we left. I've got a pic of a fat perch Mosca caught so I'll try to post it tonight.

nice trip guys.  SinCoast, I use a 10 foot ultra light for perch with spectra line.  Even the smallest fish feels big, and big perch are awewsome.  If its striper season, I upgrade to a stiffer rod, just in case.

Great report and pics Alien! For those not in the know Alien is one mean percher. I got to fish with him way back and he killed it. Wintertime perching is super fun!

Here's the pics. I wasn't gonna post em but those "photos" from your camera make my eyes hurt Alex!  :smt044 :smt005 And I thought you were joking when you said you brought your Sony Mavica.

1 of Mosca's fat perch.

Mine were a little smaller.

By the way, one look on that kids face says it all doesn't it?  He is absolutely in heaven.  It is funny after all these years and fish I still get a charge out of each fish I catch.  What a great picture, I hope he has a copy of it!

Finally was able to log on! :smt048

It was a great day meeting you Alex and Brandon. Alex thanks to your article on this site, I would have never started perching, and thus maxed out my credit cards on perching "things". jk. Ben, Brandon, and I stayed a little while longer, however, we only got a couple more bites but nothing stuck.  The water went way way low, there was no more sand bar surf breaks by the time we left!

It was nice meeting you, thanks for the pointers and I hope we can do it again soon...Marina State Beach? Long Walk?...
I know I will probably be down...just feeling the subtle bites gets my adrenaline pumping...by the way, your other tip on prepping for cooking worked nicely.

Can't wait to get out again.
