Lorenzo says when he shot the hali with pole spear and double flopper tip, he jammed the spear into the sand as much as he could and this served as an anchor. The halibut would have no where to go but up the pole spear. Lorenzo then pushed the fish back down the spear, got his bearings, and grabbed the throat and gill area before dislodging the spear and bringing fish to the surface!
