Sorry for continuing this thread-jack...but I got seasick on my kayak once. And it was HORRRIBLE! Trying to maintain my balance while puking over the side of a tipsy kayak was not easy. I'd puke, then feel fine for about 5 minutes, then puke again. Eventually puking all over myself and the poor rockfish I was catching (yes, I kept fishing, and caught about 20 more RF while puking).
It gave a whole new meaning to the term "yak-fishing" and it is something I hope to never experience again. I think part of the reason I got sick was because I tied up to some kelp, so instead of 'going with the flow' I was just bobbing up and down. Of course, the swell was about 10-12ft NW.
Prior to that episode, I had only been seasick a few times, on a 17ft Whaler in the middle of Mo Bay and during an albacore trip out of Mo Bay.
Now I always take the meds prior to paddling the ocean. Big swell or not.

Even after being in the navyfor 3 yrs (Probably 2yrs of that was out to sea) I got sick each time the ship left port!  But afterwards I was good to go and nothing bothered me.  When I (we, the ship) returned home I got woozy on dry land, I was still operating on my "sea legs"
Sea sickness is something I kinda want to avoid.  Just peddling out of Moss landing to the green buoy I wasn't able to go far before the tell tail signs started to show. Unfortunately it doesn't take much for it to happen to me.
I will be medicated when I choose to try some salt water fishing.
Oh codos to you for continuing to fish while "yaking"  When I get to that point I'm useless!

Cotinuing the "thread-tangent"...   :smt003

Watch out - Hawk once had to save one of his customers who heaved so much that she passed out aboard her yak!   :smt009

I've never gotten seasick.  Not on my yak, not during the cross-channel trip to Niihau off the Na pali coast, when people left and right were lined up puking off the side of the boat.  Not on the numerous fishing trips I took out of Dana Point Harbor as a kid, riding in my uncle's fishing boat. But...I go see one, stupid movie...

Yep, I went and saw Cloverfield with the family when it hit the theaters.  Saw the sign warning that some people experience "motion sickness" due to the nature of the filming techniques used, and chuckled.  By 15 minutes into the movie I was annoyed with the camera always moving around.  30 minutes in and I started feeling...woozy?  No, it couldn't happen, I told myself.  Tried concentrating on one point (dang, there's no horizion!) but it didn't help.  Started sweating.   Went out for some fresh air but still felt yucky.  Sat back down for 5 minutes and knew that if I didn't bail I'd be puking shortly. Told the wife, gave her the keys and walked home from the theater.  The 20 minute walk in light rain helped clear my nausea.  The family got home shortly after, raving about how the ending of the movie sucked so I didn't miss anything.  Yes, my manhood took a blow that night, I tell you.

I've never gotten seasick.

I get seasick EVERYTIME out on the salt. I swear it helps to chum while ocean fishing so I'm sure to always eat a hearty breakfast. Yes, I have tired everything on the market. It is just part of "yak-fishing" for me.  :smt078
