BH 2007/09/30

Thanks for the super report and pix, guys! Great way to end the RF season in true NCKA style! I paid the price of not having HAF (husband) or BAF (boyfriend) points to worry about when I tweaked my back while cleaning my gutters. So, instead of joining you at BH, I decided to rest up for BAM III.

Last time I was there I scoped the shore for depth and found a great spot to fish from shore...

Will you be posting a Hook Up soon? or share the location?

Great report guys. I'm jealous. Havn't tasted salt since Elk. Love the shot of that guy in the Necky. Just no way out of that one.

Personally I have fun memories of good days of catching (Hali, Ling, Cab, Red etc.) AND more importantly, with great folks as company. I would not get here alone. See ya

Look, i don't like to dig up old $hit but i wanted to clear some space of my SD card.  Also, I promised Gordo I'd post the rest of my BH pics - hope youre in there buddy (can't remember your boat).

Early in the morning, this gent hooked up with a nice cabby at .  out of focus cuz he's off in the distance, but hope you can make out the bendo.  It definitely got me stoked to see someone hook up, as I had yet bag anything by 0830.

I ventured north to do south bound drifts.  I eventually came even with a large house with a bunch of windows.  It was there that I came up on a highspot in about 54 ft among depths of 80 foot water.  The two lings came on two consecutive drops at this spot at 0930.  Weather was so awesome and I had a ling limit.  The weather picked up shortly after so I started working my way back south.

I fished with this gent in a SIK for a couple dozen drops.  He could really haul some ass with that SIK.  Nice guy



FINALLY ran into Mr. Rearview Mirror, Jmairey.  He was sandbagging and didn't get OTW until 1030 or something really late.  He had the midcolumn blacks and blues dialed in using the hitchhiker rig, with lots of action on the shrimpfly.  Fished with him for a dozen or so drops but I didn't have a fly so I couldn't fill out my limit. 







Anyway, it had gotten windy enough for J to deploy his chute, too windy for my taste.  "how's the surf looking when you launched?" I asked jmairey.  "Flat, the waves are all mushing out", he said (Translate from surfer tongue: only single overhead  ). I was ready to call it.  "I'm going out a little deeper" he says as he points it toward the horizon.  Dude's got sack, no doubt.  Just look how choppy it had gotten by 1130.







So I called it.  On the 92, hit up Repetto's to bulk up on WAF with 2 doz wine-reds.  At that price, boys, there's really no excuse. 




The Toby dog was really interested in the lings, i'd have given him one but the bones...





Now the bloody part.  PETA-heads, avert your eyes.  Curious as to the gastric distention

Kind of amazing that the head would be first thing to get digested.  There you have it - excellent way to cap off an otherwise mediocre rockfish season. 

   Hey Yakuza it was good to meet you at Del Valle.  (Associate a face to the posts) I have to tell you, when I look at your pictures on the BH waters, I see "Me yaking, or chumming"   I really want to start fishing salt, but I have to overcome my fear of "seasickness" first.
