Well just received my new Rod Pod in the mail and thought I would give you all a quick review on what I thought. The first pic is what you will receive every thing you need; I did not use the strips the ones on the boat works just fine. The only problem I had witch was no big deal, was the seal was to big I had to trim it to fit. It seems the new Rod Pod fits deeper than the old one, which is nice. I have the first generation Trident 13 2009 and the Pod fits reel nice, can’t wait to get it in some rough water. I am very pleased with it, Its got a lot of potential, hope the pic helps.

PS. Thanks again Hook 1 :smt006

Thanks Pat! Just received mine too. I'm thinking of using a longer line for the attachments points and relocating the line to the top strap instead of bottom.

Yester I am not sure if I am folling you correctly, are you planning on drilling extra holes for the strips??. I was thinking of flopping my strips so they would pull from the bottom instead of the top.

No!  I was talking about the small attachment string that holds the rod pod to the loop of the strap so you don't end up loosing the pod when it's open.
Just thought that adding a longer line and attaching it to the top strap loop instead of the bottom will clear the leg room area and out of the way when it's open.  The longer line is added so you can cap your pod either way on the yak.

Yester, This what I was thinking, pic #1 is the original and pic #2 is flipping the strip upside down, looks like it will give the Rod Pod a better chance to seal. I also used larger finder washer, bigger surface area for the strip to fold around.

Looks good Pat.Thanks for sharing. Having the straps the way you did makes a lot
of sense of making sure the pod sits down lower.
