Liz and I will be heading to Tahoe this weekend (leaving Friday morning) and I'm debating whether or not we should take the yaks.

I've been up to Tahoe quite a few times but never really spent any time fishing anywhere in the area.  So I'm hoping some of you can kick down some tips.  I'm looking for some good spots to fish from either shore or yak...either at Lake Tahoe itself or any surrounding lakes/streams within ~30 minute range of the casinos.

How does licensing work if we're on the Nevada side of the line?  Is the CA license valid there?

Fallen Leaf is about 45 minutes from stateline but it is beautiful country and decent fishing. You can fish inside Lake Tahoe (from a kayak) with a CA license. But you need a NV license if you shorefish on the NV side.
Good luck!

There is a boat launch not far from the Cal Neva - on the Cal side (I forgot the name of it) anyway, you can park there and launch your yak and paddle to the point - about a 20 minute paddle. Use live minnows - and slow troll "mendo style".

Thanks Sin Coast.  Is that on the CA side of the line?

Fallen Leaf is 10 minutes south of Emerald Bay - PK's a new daddy, so he drives slow!  It's only about 15 - 20 minutes from Stateline.  Go further north, pass Emerald Bay and go down into Bliss State Park.  That's where Tote and I fished last Summer.  It's maybe 45 minutes from Stateline.  Quick paddle to 200' of water that's 30 yards from shore along the rock face south of the easy launch.  Live minnows are good - Tote trapped some while we fished, but we both hooked up on a jig.  200' is the ticket, Angel.  Jig a 4 oz. Diamond Jig.  Good luck, Primo Del Mooch.

I was thinking Stateline, South Lake Tahoe...  Maybe I'm on the wrong end of the lake for those drive times!   :smt003

Dear Mahi, I missed you from the very second the truck tires hit the pavement as I left Lake Mendo on my way back from BAMIII.

I sent Zilla and Tote a pm, I'm hoping they'll be willing to give me the low down.

Until we meet again my friend   :smt010   :smt044
