Crab fest 2023(or hang and chill)

On low tides, you can get mussels from Miwok beach and other beaches north of Bodega.  That is outside the protected areas and is only around a 10 minute drive from Doran

Was looking to add mussels to the steamed crab. I'm sure I will find a suitable replacement at Safeway. 

If you don't mind a long walk or a short hike, check out the very south end of the beach at Doran(easier access from the Pinnacle Gulch Trail in the neighborhood above the golf course). There are a few rocky outcrops as you continue south on the beach that are full of exposed mussels at low tide. Some nice tidepools too.

That is so appreciated. This is definitely an option. Great way to build up an appetite and get some needed exercise.

Yes, thank you hungers and masterandahound! When I first moved to area 10 years ago, I looked around a bit unsuccessfully and gave up. Looks like it might be a bit windy for crabbing this weekend, and if so I may check these areas out.

Looks a bit sporty. Taking my 15.5 aluminum boat. Trying to get out friday and hopefully saturday. Either way, let the chill begin. 

Bringing snare as well as some perch gear.

Couldn't leave tonight as planned, but will be headed up as early as I can in the morning to try and get out before the wind comes up.  I guess I will bring the shore stuff as well for the heck of it.  See ya guys tomorrow!

Hi Alex,  I'm heading up tomorrow morning and should be on the water by noonish, hooping around the jetty.  We're staying in the Miwok Campground and will be there till Sunday.  Planning on crabbing Friday and Saturday till the winds pick up

Doesn’t look like I’m going to make it up tomorrow☹️ The knee is still keeping me  in check.  Sucks that I took a 4 day weeken to join the fish and chill and not able to make it😤

Really wanted to be there !  Have fun and catch all the crabs.  I guess we have to wait for the next time to make the crab Cioppino, Bulldog.
