Not allowed in the Bodega Head SMCA or SMR, which constitute most of the rocky coast in the Bodega Bay area. You would be limited to roughly this area in this photo. The access looks difficult but I've never worked my way very far out.

There are lots of mussels on the rocks around this sandy cove, or used to be, and I've seen people collecting mussels there, but it's in the SMR or maybe the SMCA and so not allowed.

Yeah, I've looked around but it seems like anywhere easy to access and within a comfortable day drive from the Bay Area is scraped clean. Hopefully someone else knows a spot and will share it with you!

Bodega Oyster Company on the way to Bodega also usually has clams and mussels. They always seem to load me up too, like double what I paid for, so I would recommend them over Safeway, but YMMV.

There is a lot of rocky coast north between the Bodega Head SMR and the Russian River SMCA that would be legal, and Ive only checked a couple of places there at low tide.

Had forgotten about the Bodega oyster company. Thanks for the reminder. I also like to stop at the Tides for some smoked salmon. I picked up some scallops there once. Unfortunately they didn't taste fresh. Salmon was great though.
