In 2020 we had a family trip planned and I was designated to checkup on fishing. Went so far as to talk with some charter boat operations. I was appreciative of their honesty. Long story short, forget the fishing, especially with family on trip,

Was stationed on a ship in Pearl Harbor for a while -- watched the locals outfish me.  Done a few trips to Maui, and the big island also.  My 2 cents -- Keep the reel in the suitcase and enjoy the family vacation!  Good luck!
