FF Wiring Question

Hey All,


I’m trying to rig up my profisha 525 and I have a FF install question. How do you run your power/transducer lines out from the fish hatch to connect to the FF unit? It seems like the carbon fiber lid wouldn’t be able to handle running the wires underneath. It seems like it’s either too tight or would crack the CF. Any input would be great.

Is the ProFisha lid more "delicate" than that on the Fisha. If so, I'm pretty sure Eddie drilled through his PF lid and will see this thread soon enough

A few more thoughts:

1. you probably don't need as big a hole as I made. I had a thru-hull wire kit that had that size "plug," so that's what I did.

2. I was told that the type of bit I used was not ideal and that I'd be better off with a hole saw. I didn't want to buy a hole saw bit so I used what I had. I put a piece of wood behind it when I drilled (to avoid it splitting/cracking on the exit) and drilled very slowly. I practiced on a cheap rubber tote first, just to get my confidence up

I ran my wires up to the front where the hatch “hinges” forward. Then ran them along the inside top of my hatch to where they come out and attach to the FF.

Mine is a fiberglass hatch though.

I’m a fan of taping the edges of the hole and drilling in reverse…seems to work…

Here is how I ran mine, I am using an older FF, I use a battery box to hold the battery. Wiring, I used existing hardware where possible to run the wires, and zip tie router blocks where I couldn't to avoid drilling. I filed the hull under the hatch to allow the wires to be in place without the hatch cutting them.  I hope that helps.

Very clean install!

Kinda funny, my little alum boat came with that same model FF. Took me a minute to figure it all out - I'm more familiar with Garmin - but it is a pretty nice little unit.

Still have it and it still works, just had to replace my battery.  10+ years with it and it finally gave up.
