Hey All,

New to the forum. Not new to kayak fishing (at least not brand new). I've been fishing out of my Old Town 106pdl for a little over a year now. I live up in Auburn, fish 90% of the time at Clementine. There's some nice bass in that lake! Bonus, I live about 10 minutes from Clementine. Thought I'd join the group to get some ideas and talk fishing/boating.

Thanks,

Dan Frink

I had some questions / looking for some advice on Clementine. Can someone point me in the best direction to post? Assuming in the fishing report section, but I see that's open to the general public so thought I'd ask what you all recommend first?

Clementine can be really good! My pb largemouth was caught there. Went about 6lbs (had friends look at photos, didn't have my scale with me). There's also some nice SM bass in there.

It's DEEP lake. Like 20' off shore and the depth is at 30'+. I'm trying to unlock more winter success there. Usually it's a throw to the reeds for fish type of lake. I know the fish will go deep in winter, just can't seem to find them. On top of that, there's a TON of gas bubbles in the lake so the FF can be tough to decipher at times. I guess look for rock points and hard bottom? You get very far away from the shoreline and it's down to 50'+ in a short amount of distance. Any other thoughts?

Also, I've seen reference to trout. I've never caught or seen any trout there though. I'd be interested to discuss that as well.

One of the coolest parts of joining this forum is the search feature at the top right, search any body of water and you can usually find some good insight!

Welcome aboard Dan. There are a lot of us from Sacramento and the surrounding area. I have met and fished with several of them. All great people. Then there's the coastal/ bay area people. A few are ok, but you know bay area people!  :smt044 After you get 10 posts in you will have access to the members only boards and a lot more info.

My best guess is all of the organic material that comes down the river and then sinks to the bottom. There are LOTS of downed trees on the bottom of Clementine. Some days I feel I spend more time re-rigging than I do fishing. LOL.
