I’ve been kayak fishing for 10 or 12 years and the entire time I’ve use the same cheap Lowrance fishfinder. It finally crapped out on me so I ordered a Garman because I got a great deal on an open box product. When it showed up the battery hook up was something I don’t recognize. How can I use this battery hook up with this type of battery?

That looks like the end that plugs into the unit itself.  The other end should have a fuse on the positive lead, and bare wires after that.

I used some small spade connectors to connect mine - I can take a picture tomorrow.  The connectors crimp onto the bare wires and slide onto the terminals of the battery.  The small ones should be universal in spade size and should slide firmly onto the battery terminal.

yah, the Garmins have 4 leads on the other end of the pigtail, Black (-), Red (positive), Brown (?) and Blue I think.

all you care about is Ground-black-negative on battery, and Red-positive-PLUS on the battery, with a fuse on the positive side.

fwiw, I've found the automotive spade type fuses work great and are easy to slather with dielectric grease.

hope that helps,
Brian.

What they said. I'd just add that I really like that style of Garmin plug. It looks kind of fragile, but is I've found it to be extremely durable.
