Morning All

Looking for some help with info on obtaining a captain's license (boat) for hopefully this next April. So, hopefully enough time to prepare now.

I have been boating for decades. I obtained, my commercial license this year to ride along with a friend who commercial fishes salmon.

Just started my research and found classes that are running from about 800 and up. The ones i have found are online. Looking for a hands-on classroom atmosphere.

TIA for replies.  :smt001

C-Quest marine used to be the standard recommendation but not sure if they’re still in operation post Covid.

I’d look at the licensing courses through the Cal Maritime academy as a backup, I’d expect the level of instruction to be unrivaled.  After I finish my current degree program I’m thinking of starting the process for a potential second career post retirement.

Congrats and thanks for info.

Preparing for semi-retirement. Finally starting to see a little light at the end of the tunnel.  :smt007

I’m anywhere between 8 and 13 years out, so it’s pre-pre-pre-planning. With any luck I’ll be able to afford to be a dock bum, hopefully transporting expensive yachts between Ca and Mex for peanuts. Maybe scraping together maintenance or rigging jobs for fishing coin lol.
