The disc drive in our iRV-33 system in our trailer has failed; it just ejects the disc after a few seconds. This includes trying to run a cleaning disc in it. So, all the online reviews seem to be by businesses that have a horse in that race. Anybody had good or bad luck with a particular system or brand of system? Thanks in advance!

What's a disc? :smt044

yah, that's essentially what the industry is asking too - getting very hard to find BluRay and DVD players - as they've been replaced with online services.  But, in the RV, you often don't have good WiFi or cell service - so online not always an option...and a lot of the parks have BluRay/DVD 'free libraries' which are handy.

OK, let me try and be helpful at least since I muddied up your thread.  I'm not up on current products, but I used to always upgrade my car audio systems.

From what I googled up about your old unit, I found a crutchfield response: https://www.crutchfield.com/S-legiFkr6ewo/p_932RV33/iRV-iRV33.html

Crutchfield is well known supplier for car audio components, wiring, and whatever else you might need for a car stereo install.  It may have information that is helpful on RV specific systems, they generally have a lot of helpful information on how to install stuff.

From the specs on the page, it's not very impressive stats or anything, fairly generic device. At 250$ per amazon on a replacement, it really looks like price gouging to me. But it would be the easiest way to replace it because you wouldn't have to worry about re-wiring the wire harness to work with your cabling, it would be plug and play.  If you could find a used replacement, that would probably be the cheapest option.

Otherwise you can look for something that can fit in the dimensions that your old stereo fit into: dimensions: 9-5/16"W x 8-3/8"H x 1-3/4"D which seems like an odd size.  You could then pretty much pick anything that fit that has the same inputs and outputs, and then have to re-wire the speakers and power through a new wire harness.

There just arent' a lot of choices that I see with those dimensions, but here is a generic search: https://www.amazon.com/s?k=wall+rv+audio+dvd&i=electronics&crid=12B39KDZ8D2J5&sprefix=wall+rv+audio+dvd+%2Celectronics%2C141&ref=nb_sb_noss

None of them aside from the MBQuartz do I recognize a a good brand.  The touch screen Boss Audio for 110$ is what I think would be a better and cheaper replacement, but i'm not scrutinizing the details.  Otherwise Jenson seems to have the closest match to your old unit.

I bought an in dash automotive am/fm/cd/dvd. Had to trim the opening for fit and finish and add brackets in the back, and do allot of rewiring but I can now run anything thru it, added coax, usb, hdmi, lightning, inputs, (wires hanging in a little pocket below the unit). It had all the speaker outputs/balance capability too as well as to the TV.  It all works but I actually have written some instructions to get everything working the way I want it on each trip/use. One of those things "that sounded good at the time". After allot of work (way too much work), It all works but not something I'd recommend or do again.  On the opening as Al noted not common, I think it's an RV specific hole.

Basically I should have found and paid for a specific replacement.
