When the ocean forecast doesn’t look that great for Salmon, I look to fly fish inland. Being that it was gonna be way too hot, figured I’d give the Napa a go. Great day out there fly fishing the sloughs, had the place to myself more or less. Striper bite was pretty good with catching 4 and losing 3 / barbless hooks. Definitely a fun day but had to leave early cause of a broken leader. Was fishing my eight weight, self tied clouser and sink6 line.

I was out there today and picked up 17 fish on conventional trolling. Only 1 was over 18”. Met a fly fisherman who had a 40 fish day with maybe 5 or 10 keeper size. Next time I’m bringing the fly rod.

I put in at Cuttings and fished downriver. Most action was from Mud slough to Napa Sough and up into Napa Sough.  It would be a slog to go further from that put-in, unless timing a good tide.  Do you put in somewhere else?

nope, same place as you Cuttings Wharf. I was just fishing in Fagan Marsh, which is the second slough downriver
