Hello fellow Kayak fisherman.  I just wanted to share photos of my recent trip to Lake Tahoe.  The kokanee bite was red hot, I started fishing at 6AM and had my limit by 8AM.  Great day to be on the lake.  Does anyone else fish Lake Tahoe on here?

wow, fast work!  look like some nice fish.

I've fished Fallen Leaf Lake, just to the south a number of times, but not yet on the big lake, though I've been thinking about it, live just East of Folsom, so not a bad drive.

where do you launch?

I beach launch it at Camp Richardson. Park at the Marina side of the dock. How was this fishing on Fallen Leaf Lake? What did you fish for?

cool I know where that is, $$$ or free?  Pope or Kiva might work too.

FLL I launch from the campground, need to hike it over the moraine, but not too bad, I typically lock the yak to a tree for the week we stay there.  Mackinaw trout mainly, but also Kokes (finally hooked into them this year) and Trout.  I like the Kokes the best, but Mac's are good also if you bleed them immediately, and preferably gut them and clean the mud line as well on the water.  Before I had the downrigger, I'd mainly catch and use minnows as bait, but now I just use the downrigger and troll troll troll.  This year caught more kokes than anything else - which is good.

I am not sure about kiva beach but Pope beach gates do not open until 7 or 8am. I like to be on the water much earlier than that. Camp Richardson is free to park at while the front is unattended during the early morning hours. During normal beach business hours they do charge for parking but if you are already in the lot before that point they not try and get money from you when you leave. Sounds like the fishing is good at fallen leaf too. I will have to try that one of these days.

nice.

If you get in early, and park at the south end of the fallen leaf lake, near the store, you can hand launch for free - it get's to be  zoo later in day especially on weekends. you can drop the yak near the launch/dock, then tug it down to the water.

Would be fun to meetup sometime to fish Tahoe..though I'm not a 'much earlier than' 7am guy :)  about a 2 hour drive for me, so i'd likely arrive 6-7am

I will be back at it Saturday Labor Day weekend bright and early. Give a holler if you see me out there. I have not encountered anyone else on a kayak fishing yet so I shouldn’t be too hard miss. I always fish the west shoreline in south lake in between Baldwin beach and emerald bay.
