The videos I posted in some of the threads stopped showing up since yesterday. Did something changed on the forums?

If you change the URL for NCKA to be http:// instead of https:// they start working for me.

Why would we ban youtubers?  Most of em only glean info and don’t post….and their videos only get posted when they’re getting in confrontations with fisherman that hate them or they’re recording themselves violating fish and game laws.   :smt044
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

I should know more about why this is, but I not well versed in this stuff.  Discovered it last time someone posted they weren't able to view youtube links and I fiddled around and found that.  It could be a browser change is my guess, doubt the site was changed recently.

Well put, and bluntly  :smt044  I decided to just unsubscribe from one that did such things.  Thinking of writing to another to talk to them about wearing the right gear when kayaking.

When you use https there is some cryptography involved, and id guess there is an issue with the certificate. For me this only ever happens on my iPhone (not on my laptop), and resetting seems to fix the problem. But the http trick is a good one.
Are you pondering what I’m pondering?

That much I do understand, also that certs cost $$.  Reason I think it's browser specific is sort of hard to explain, but defaults in how they respond to the connection of a site can vary as well as what things they consider to be safe.  Chrome is notoriously picky about certs, so I use FireFox most of the time.  Server configuration could also be a reason for defaulting to http vs https as well, I'm just too lazy to look it up.

It’s because some admin hasn’t updated the site software in awhile.  I probably should do sometime …

Likely the issue has to do with Mixed Content, i.e. an https page having resources (photos, videos, links) loaded via http. Many browers have started blocking such insecurely loaded resources.

I’ve been wondering about this too, I haven’t been seeing any of the linked YouTube videos from my safari browser on my iPhone. Its just a blank gray area. I wanted to see AlsHobieOutback’s bitchin’ video so I tried clearing my history and website data in the settings (Settings-> Safari-> clear history). Voila! It seems to have worked.
