I was going to try and make it a three day streak and fish today as well.  But when I woke up my right hand is feeling a bit weirdly numb, especially the fingertips.  I can grab a cup, but not make a fist and it feels like it's swollen a little.  Only two things I can think of that might have done it, a rockfish spine or I hooked myself pretty good at one point when baiting my rig.  Took some benadryl and ibuprofen and hoping it stops.

Hour later and it's mostly gone!  Hum!  Glad I had some Benadryl!

Good to hear, that was my first thought, "a report" on progress that is.

Over the years I've developed a med kit that goes with me besides a first aid kit. I keep liquid benadryl in it cause I figure liquid is quicker.

When I first read the title I thought "there is probably a good joke in there" but alas not.  But glad to hear you are feeling better!

If I touch fish goo, my hands get slightly swollen, even if no spine pokes me. I try to remember to wear nitrile gloves (the medium kind) when handling/cleaning fish.

It's still a little swollen, but nowhere near what it was yesterday strange.  Don't recall that happening to me before!  I do remember that some NCKA member had a strange allergy to squid, if handled he would lose like a layer of skin.

I recently experienced the same thing after a day of landing lots of rock fish.  I had lots of very small cuts on my hands from the barbs on the fish I was handling.  The swelling and numbness lasted a couple of days.  Probably a good idea to wear glove when handling these.

Maybe there was a little red tide effect. According to the interweb, red tide can cause skin irritation.

Definitely some sore paws for me lately after fishing. Rockfish mouths had my one finger feeling red and hot and a layer of skin peeled off. All good now though. Here’s the thumb after a good day in Santa Cruz recently. I remember learning not to lip grip a Boccaccio years back. And my thumb ends up jamming into a spine now and then while filleting. Rockfish get a bit of revenge.
