How I lost my favorite rods/reels at Bolinas during preparation for surf landing

I lost my favorite slow pitch rods and reels during suft landing preparation at Bolinas.
Two major mistakes caused me this major loss.

• I didn't check the bouncy after noodle installation - lazy (I didn't want use a leash for potential tangle)
• Didn't secure rods properly

1.   Okuma Hawaiian Custom Slow Jigging Rod – Conventional with Okuma Metaloid 2 Speed Lever Drag Reel - M-5NII
2.   GooFish Matte Black Fuji Setting Size 6' 6” Slow Pitch Jigging Rod – Conventional with Okuma Metaloid 2 Speed Lever Drag Reel - M-5NII

Waited 3 hours at the beach hoping the rods wash up but they never showed.   I almost cried on the way home...

That is sad to hear, I almost lost one of mine at Albion. I got snagged, and was trying to bounce it loose when the line got wrapped around the top of the rod. The fast drift pulled it tight befor I could untangle it. I held on to break of but lost two guides in the process.

May Poseidon take your sacrifice and in return grant you safe travels and fatty limits.

I threw my cast net last summer and in went my salmon rod behind me... fun times.

Sorry to hear Paul but the video only show you caught limited and landed with your rods.

What a bummer bc I recently had a sea lion ripped my rod off my kayak at OP. It had a noodle on but never saw it re-surfaced.

Oh man, so sorry about the loss of your favorite rods...  I lost my favorite salmon rod last year when I caught a big halibut.  Another time lost a rod on the AI because the mainline caught it and lifted it right out of the rod holder and into the ocean    Don't be too hard on yourself, it's a fact of kayak fishing that you will lose or break gear.

Oh man, I’m sorry to hear this. I can understand, I think I would almost cry too losing my favorite rods and reels. Hope they somehow show up!!

It always sucks to loose gear, but it is part of the sport.
When I lived in Fresno and fished the San Joaquin every weekend, I averaged a lost rod a month. I also made many mistakes fishing the local lakes resulting in lost rods and gear. All in all I have lost quite a few rods over the years and you will eventually come to realize that rods are just tools that need constant upgrades. Besides, who doesn't like shopping for the next favorite rod?
