Capitola trips for me almost always include the 2+ mile slog out to the non-secret reef by SC3 to load up on rockfish. It’s great exercise and a productive spot, but my wife told me that she’s sick of eating rockfish and lingcod right now. That’s what you get for slaying, and I’m a bit of a rockfishophile. She wants halibut and suggested that I don’t need to come home without one (which sounds tempting!!!). My buddy and I did well out past SpongeBob a couple weeks ago with three throwback halibut and a couple of accidental keeper lingcod. Thinking about staying real close Sunday from the wharf to SpongeBob and going halibut or bust. Happy to have company.
