Hooked up with Terry "Hydrospider" today at Mando. It was a fairly slow day at the lake, but there were several short boils. We got on the lake about 0700 hours and Terry hooked his first EVER striper at about 1145 hours. It was defiantly worth the wait!

It was baking hot today and I'm as red as a crayfish. Nice job Terry. I'll let him talk about the "one that got away".

CHEERS!

Ive still got permagrin! The victim was taken on the blue fox 1/4 (thanks Sean) slinging into one of many boils.
Thanks for bringing up "the one that got away" in front of everyone Dan.
Just about the time that I had recovered from being a quivering heap of manflesh from "the experience", Dan says "bendo!" and Ive got another on the minner dragger. I go for the hook set and swing into dead air. When I bring it in, its just the slip sinker and swivel. Yes, my knot was bunk, and Im not afraid to confess it. When I arrived this morning Dan was already on the water and we spotted boils right out of the chute. I was still rigged for C-lake and scrambled the transition. May have cost me a big fish.
Still, finally yanking the monkey that had transformed into a Kong like beast after MANY trips to mendo without a striper, off my back felt fantastic. Thanks again Dan, there could not have been better company today.

So h20spider how is the 4.4 as a fishing ride? It seems it'd be super fast and as long as you keep your fishing really simple could be fun in lakes. Nice idea. I think I'll have to ask Mr. White for a demo. :smt003

As a paddler this boat was a true pleasure to ride. The first time I had it on the water was at blue lakes and it was mirror-esk. The speed and the glide were so smooth that I couldnt help but to start laughing. Slippery is a good word to discribe it. This boat would fit best with someone under 180#s and when fishing gear or any other weight is brought along it decreases the perfomance.
I have issue with the scupper hole placement and the lack there of where needed. The boat holds water in the work area and is definately a wet ride. It is silent like most boats on flat H2O but at the slightest chop this boat gets loud.  Leg straps make this kayak almost symbiotic with the paddler and allows you to really bring in a big powerful stroke, but you really have to be aware and at the ready with a hip snap in heavy chop.
Its very fast off the line and the sprint for boil chasing unless you have your bait bucket in drag. (said bad words)
Proven faster than the T160, but I regret not taking a shot at Seans south african boat not too long ago.  Its a swellrider but not neccessarily a surfrider. Long and is interested in pearling.
This is the boat I would want for island hopping, working out, or just enjoying the simple pleasure of paddling, but it is not a "fishing boat", just really fun to catch a fish in.
If you have the opportunity to paddle one, dont pass on it.
I have to part with "the rocket"  for simplicity in the lair and to help fund future kayak projects.
It will be missed.
