For the tackle junkies out there looking to improve on stock gear, I give to the, the brazed stainless ring.

I'm using these to replace split rings on my tuna jigs and poppers, but will probably be brazing rings onto some of my striper and bass gear as well.

I order stainless, saw cut, 14g, 5/16 size rings from the fine folks at The RingLord......these will fit just about any commercially available jig and hook combo, only came across one jig that didn't work with it.

I use Harris black flux, Stay Silv
https://www.amazon.com/Harris-SSBF1-Stay-Brazing-Black/dp/B002BXL1N4/ref=sr_1_7?crid=2002JJKFB74ZR&keywords=stay+silv&qid=1657600868&sprefix=stay+silv%2Caps%2C145&sr=8-7

And Harris Safety Silv 56% Silver Solder...the silver content matters, this aint the same stuff you get at your local box store.
https://www.amazon.com/Harris-Troy-Ounce-75310-5631/dp/B0713Y6V2F/ref=sr_1_1?crid=DEEP1FI8RDR5&keywords=safety+silv+56&qid=1657601070&sprefix=safety+silv%2Caps%2C158&sr=8-1

I normally use a large butane torch for heat, easy to use on jigs but the plastic on poppers required me to buy a smaller torch for precision heating.  A couple key things:

A thin layer of flux is sufficient, its best not to goop it on.

Apply heat directly to the flux/joint area, you generally want to see the flux melted and the metal beneath glowing before applying the solder.

Avoid overheating the ring, if the metal around the braze looks burnt or discolored you're best off cutting it off and starting over.  The metal gets brittle.

The process..

Great write up and instructional video!  Always wondered how that was done.
