Humboldt Bay calibut questions

Looking to try to catch some California halis next week. Any tips? Will try to catch some live bait and drift the tide. Any help would be appreciated!!!

The swimbait jiggers do well, but live bait is always best, it seems.  I like to slow troll two frozen baits - need a fair number of fish around to have satisfactory catch rates, so the past two seasons haven't been as good for me.  Numbers are down, but there are some nice ones being caught.

its been tough so far this year. 3/4 trips have been skunks but I got one on a live shiner perch I caught near the launch w/ net and sabiki.

3rd (far) and middle channel are where boats are getting them. Just time the tides and try not to lose a fish in front of the madaket, the capt will call you out in front of the audiance

Looks like conditions for Thursday/Friday are improving for Trinidad, bay halibut is our back up plan.
